Rockin' and Rollin'

Here's the latest!

Grandma McVeigh does dinner duty.

Ruby is becoming a much better eater. She loves her sweet potatoes and carrots and hates peas. She doesn't seem to like the homemade baby food I have prepared so lovingly; preferring the storebought version. I'm trying not to take it personally :)

Ruby is working day and night (i.e., not sleeping much) to learn how to crawl. She can get around quite a bit so far but still hasn't "harnessed" the power of her knees :)

My Mom suggested we help her learn by pushing against her feet. My mind fast forwarded to her crawling around the house at high speed, eating dust bunnies and drinking out of Toby's water dish. Uh.... no, I don't think we'll help her out. She'll get the hang of it soon enough!

Favorite pose.

Trying out the jumpy seat.
Here's a video from our new Flipvideo. (yay! lots more boring video clips coming your way!!)
She's a bit sleepy in this one so she isn't too active.. but you can see what she's up to.
Life is good :)

Snowpocalypse 2011

Any of our Canadian friends and family- please control your laughter...
Atlanta has been experiencing a "Snowpocalypse."
Yes, 5 inches of snow and a little bit of freezing rain has shut the city down for 4 days and counting! It's a bit embarrassing really... but we made the most of it!

Here is Toby making snow angels.

Home sweet home in the blizzard.

Neighborhood kids sledding/snowboarding down our street on the ice.

We took advantage of Ruby's first "real"snow and bundled her up for a walk.

She loved it. Here she is making what we affectionately call her "scrunched-up-nose-sniffy-face."

Who knew? The BOB has snow tires??!

I'm cozy in here :)

We stayed warm this week, drank lots of hot chocolate, and baked so many things we ran out of eggs, butter, sugar, and chocolate chips (you know- the staples)!

Hopefully Atlanta's 4 snowplows (!) will clear the roads soon.

Stay warm!

All I want for Christmas...

you guessed it! TWO FRONT TEETH :)=

I'm not sure *I* would have asked for those for Christmas...what, with all of the fussing and sleepless nights that have been part of the package... but I guess Ruby really wanted them!
Santa delivered.

She is now the proud owner of two bottom front teeth. We don't have any photo evidence yet since they've just poked through... but stay tuned, it'll be cute ;)

We spent Ruby's first Christmas in Bonita Springs, FL with some of my family. Apparently it was the first Christmas since 1882 that Atlanta got a real dusting of snow. I can't say that we missed it :P

Ruby's first "walk" on the beach. Napping in the sunshine...

Trying to get a family photo proved to be an adventure.

Loving Bubby.

The new year brought with it a new number ... ***SEVEN*** months old!

mmmm. I love feeling my new teeth. Thanks Santa!

We had a low-key New Year's Eve but it was a good chance to reflect on the excitement of 2010 and to look ahead to the adventures of 2011. 2010 was, hands down, the hardest and best year we have had yet. We are happy we can put those two adjectives in the same sentence together!

Life is good. I'm not saying I never feel stressed, but 2010 and Ruby's arrival certainly accomplished one thing for me. It completely changed my view of what "having a bad day" is. Got laid off? HA- who cares! Got yelled at by a client? Big whoop! Feeling sick or sorry for yourself? Buck up!

We made it through the tough stuff. We've got a healthy baby at home who giggles, smiles, and thinks Scott and I are the bees knees.

Like I said. Life is good.

I'm not sure exactly what 2011 holds for us... but I know it's going to be fun.
Happy New Year!!!!!
