Pumping Iron

Ever since Ruby has come along it has been tough to get to the gym. I know, I know... what parent doesn't complain about a lack of personal time and feeling too frazzled to work out? Since I wasn't able to get out much or take Ruby to a gym daycare for months due to our "germ-ban," I decided to bring the gym to us so I could maintain my sanity.

My wonderful trainer has helped me get motivated, energized, and back into the pre-preggy wardrobe. Thank you Katie!!!

Depending on her age, Ruby has done different things during our workout. At first she used to sleep in the middle of our bed, as still as a rock while I sweated and groaned in the living room. Then she sat in her swing or "circle of neglect" and observed me with curiosity...

Now she wants to work out too!

I like the idea of raising a strong, independent woman :) It's never too early!

She looks sweet in the shot above but you should have heard her a few seconds before: "Come on, 50 more crunches Mommy- WORK IT!!!"

At least she finds my pain entertaining :)

Katie even convinced me to run a 5K which I hadn't done since college. Although I never got around to training for it (insert frazzled parent excuses here) I somehow managed to channel the energy of everyone around me and ran it in 30 minutes.

The BEST part of the entire run, however, was seeing my Dad, Scott, and Ruby cheering me on near the finish line. I ran the last few hundred feet with a huge smile on my face and it is a "first" that I will remember for a long time.

Trouble

Ruby is getting into EVERYTHING these days. Favorite toys include Mom and Dad's hairbrushes, toilet paper rolls, and Toby's water bowl.
Here are a few pics of what our peanut has been up to lately:

Baby in a basket.

Making a mess with green beans.

Jammin' on the doglophone.

Ruby was kind enough to lend Dad her cell phone.

Crawling over Toby. She has an adorable habit of sticking her tongue out when she's concentrating.

Standing up!!!

Happy (early) Easter everyone :)

The difference between dogs and babies?

Not much!

They are adorable when sleeping...

They love walks...

They both fit comfortably in a crate (!).

They like exploring other people's digs (Toby guards his turf)

They steal food any chance they get...

...and they can't help but stick their tongue out when they see a food bowl.

Furry or not- I love my babies :)

10 months!

Our happy baby turned 10 months old this past weekend!

It is almost impossible to get her to sit in the chair with Horton...

Take 1...

Take 2.

Take 3: we abandon the chair and stick to the floor...

I'm 10 months old! Bottoms up!

Who needs cake? My parents let me eat paper! (just kidding)

Things Ruby has been up to lately :

  • She is now saying both Mama and Dada. Music to our ears.
  • She is NOT a fan of her changing table... or spending pretty much any time on her back. We have resorted to giving her anything she wants in return for 5 seconds of being still so we can speed-change her diaper. If there were a speed-diapering event in the baby Olympics, I'd be a contender :)
  • She has learned how to give "kisses." Well, she likes to open her mouth wide and mush its' slobbery cuteness into our faces- we call it a kiss!
  • Favorite toys: her hair brush, kitchen spatulas, the vaseline lid, a diaper cream tube (anything that isn't really a toy)
  • She has been developing a serious Mommy attachment. Poor Daddy has been referring to himself regularly as "chopped liver." Perhaps those will be Ruby's next words?
